Foam Talent 2022

With Foam Talent, we present 20 international young artists who work with the medium of photography and have been selected for the funding programme of the Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam Foam. The bi-annual Foam Talent Call addresses talented photographers between 18 and 40 years from all across the world. 1,938 applications from 85 countries were submitted in 2022. Their artistic positions are all characterised by an individual and innovative visual language. “Foam Talent 2022” was first shown at Foam in Amsterdam. The extensive exhibition will now be presented in Eschborn. Since 2017, we are supporting this initiative as part of our commitment to young photographers.

The exhibited works show how young artists examine the world and react to issues of our time: they deal with climate change, political conflicts, discrimination, expulsion and questions of social justice. In doing so, the artists use the content-related and material diversity of the medium to respond to, process and navigate the realities in which they live. Many projects highlight systemic problems and their effects, both on a personal and global level.

The exhibition was curated by the Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam Foam. It is complemented by an extensive digital presentation.
