Over several decades, the American photographer Jamel Shabazz documented Black communities in New York City. He portrays the vibrant streets as places of community and as a space closely associated with the origins of cultural expressions such as hip hop and breakdance. His photographs are both historical testimonies and means of self‑empowerment. The exhibition will present around 50 works from his body of work.
